I wrote the beginning of this song along with this journal entry a year after adopting a dog:

I want to have a happening/performance/party that is a dog baby shower/bachelorette party celebrating the arrival of a canine who fucking owns my body/heart/sleeps in my bed/ controls my life in ways similar in quality to the way a partner or child might. Nobody prepared me for how significant this creature would be and I think I should have a retroactive performative ritual to celebrate this momentous occasion that happened over a year ago.
